Delaware Men’s Basketball To Appear on Television 11 Times, Women Twice During 2008-09 Regular Season

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware men’s basketball team will play on television 11 times while the women will appear twice during the 2008-09 regular season, as the Colonial Athletic Association announced its basketball package Wednesday at the league’s Media Day.

The Blue Hen men’s team’s only televised non-conference game will occur on Sunday, December 21 when Delaware travels to Boston University for a 12 noon game with the Terriers on CN8. Ten of UD’s 18 conference games will be televised, beginning with the Blue Hens’ home game on Saturday, January 3 with defending regular season champion VCU, which will be shown by CN8 at 4:30 p.m.

Delaware’s home game with Northeastern has been moved to Thursday, January 15 at 7 p.m. and will be televised by ESPNU, and two days later the Blue Hens will host William & Mary on Saturday, January 17 at 12 noon in a contest televised by Comcast SportsNet. UD’s road game at Drexel has been moved a day earlier to Tuesday, January 20, when the Blue Hens will take on the Dragons at 7 p.m. in a game also televised by Comcast SportsNet.

CN8 will televise Delaware’s game at George Mason at 7 p.m., which was moved up a day to Tuesday, January 27. The Blue Hens’ home game with Drexel will also be shown by CN8 on Wednesday, February 4 at 8 p.m. Delaware will take on Georgia State on Saturday, February 7 at 4 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast by Comcast SportsNet.

ESPNU will televise UD’s home game with George Mason at 7 p.m. in a game that has been moved to Thursday, February 12. The Blue Hens’ home game with Hofstra on Saturday, February 14 at 4 p.m. and the road game at VCU on Wednesday, February 18 at 7 p.m. will both be televised by CN8.

Additionally, CN8 will broadcast all four CAA Tournament quarterfinal games and both semifinal games, while ESPN will televised the championship game on Monday, March 9.

The Blue Hen women will make their lone television appearance on Sunday, February 8, when Delaware hosts VCU at 2 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast by CN8. Norfolk-based WSKY will show the Blue Hens’ game at Old Dominion on Sunday, February 15 at 2 p.m. Additionally, CN8 will broadcast both CAA Tournament semifinal games on Saturday, March 14, while Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic will show the championship game the following day.

Two UD women’s games have changed dates to accommodate the men’s schedule, as the Blue Hens’ home game against James Madison has been moved up a day to Wednesday, January 14 and the home contest versus William & Mary has also been moved up a day to Wednesday, February 11. Both games will still begin at 7 p.m.
