NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware women’s basketball team has been without Vanessa Kabongo since the Blue Hens’ Dec. 11 victory and will play without the junior guard for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.
Kabongo (at right), a two-year letterwinner from Toronto, Ontario, underwent arthrosopic surgery on her left knee on Jan. 22 and will return to action for the Blue Hens during the 2010-11 season.
The 5-10 guard has played in 68 games for UD, of which she has started 59. Kabongo has contributed 546 points, an average of eight points per game over the course of 1,804 minutes of playing time and pulled down 242 rebounds for an average of 3.6 boards per contest. In addition Kabongo has dished out 65 assists, swiped 90 seals, and made seven blocks for the Blue Hens.
UD next returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 28 when it hosts Colonial Athletic Association opponent Towson at 7 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.
