Delaware Rowing Completes Fall Season with Strong Showing at the Head of the Occoquan Meet

FAIRFAX, VA -- The University of Delaware women’s rowing team had a strong showing at the Head of the Occoquan meet at the Occoquan Reservoir in Virginia.

The Blue Hens were led by the Novice Fours, which finished second in the 10-boat event. The crew, anchored by Marra Green, Tracey Iudica, Leanna Colubriale, Kaitlin Roerher, and Clare Wardwell, clocked in with a time of 22:31.47.

Delaware also recorded three other top-10 finishes, placing fourth and ninth in the Novice Eights before coming in tenth in the Championship Eights.

The Novice Eights ‘A’ crew, which finished in 20:51.90, was led by Green, Iudica, Colubriale, Roeher, and Wardwell along with Corey Kalota, Steph Lynch, Sara Leviton, and Meghan Scott.

The Blue Hens’ ‘B’ team, which placed ninth in 21:31.03, was comprised of Jennifer Popkin, Grace Bennett, Rachel Waylett, Katelyn Huber, Tara Bree, Ann Wardwell, Lindsay Byrne, Valerie Glace, and Sarah Baillie.

Delaware's Championship Eights crew also placed tenth out of 21 competitors with a time of 19:38.85. That squad included Avery Griffin, Elizabeth Carey, Lisa Ferrara, Lisa Medina, Lana Rivers, Regine Adrien, Darra Finnerty, Laura Stiffler, and Katie Gooding.

Along with the three top-10 finishers, Delaware’s Championship Fours squad, led by Cami Off, Mary Grace Maggiano, Liz Cretekos, Meredith Rubin, and Jess Brooks, came in 13th during their event, clocking in at 22:06.15.

The Occoquan competition was the Blue Hens’ only official race of the fall season. The team’s spring campaign will begin on March 8 when they travel to Saint Joseph’s to take on the Hawks.
