TULSA, Okla. -- For the second straight year, University of Delaware junior rower Regine Adrien (at right) has been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-Mid Atlantic Region second team squad.

The award honors the nation’s top rowers in five regions and is selected by a vote of head coaches. Adrien is one of only two Blue Hen rowers to earn the honor and the first to be recognized two consecutive years.

She was one of only 92 rowers nationally honored, including 21 in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and four in the Colonial Athletic Association. In addition to Adrien, CAA foe Northeastern had Veronica Townsend, Svenja Sanders, and Colleen Saville honored in the New England Region.

An international relations major from Merrick, N.Y. (Kellenberg Memorial High School), Adrien led the Blue Hens to a third place team finish at the Colonial Athletic Association championships and competed in all six team competitions for the Varsity Eights crew during the season.

A second-year member of the Varsity Eights for head coach Laura Slice, she led that Blue Hen crew to a second place finish at the Kerr Cup, a fourth place showing at the CAA Championships, a sixth place finish at the Knecht Cup, a fifth place showing in the semifinals at the Dad Vail Regatta, and a third place finish in their heat at the Murphy Cup. Delaware also placed third in a tri-meet vs. Saint Joseph’s to open the season.

As a sophomore in 2008, Adrien also earned second team All-Region honors when led the UD Varsity Eights team to third place finishes at both the Lake Wheeler Invitational and the CAA/Kerr Cup championships. As a freshman in 2006, she led the Novice Eights boat to the CAA title.
