PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Delaware women’s rowing team sent two crews into the finals and competed in four other event heats to highlight competition at the Murphy Cup Regatta Saturday on the Schuylkill River.

The Blue Hen Novice Fours team won its heat and then placed third in the finals while the Second Varsity Eights crew won its heat and finished sixth in the finals.

Also for the Hens, the Second Novice Eights team placed second in its heat, the Varsity Eights team was third in its heat, Novice Eights was fourth in its heat, the Varsity Fours boat placed fourth in its heat.

The Novice Fours team of Rachel Waylett (in front at right), Laura Wertman, Chelsea McFadden, Virginia Hall, Tori Drach posted a time of 8:06.64 to place third in the finals. Bucknell won the race in a time of 8:01.26 followed by Trinity, Delaware, MIT, and Iona.

The Second Varsity Eights crew of Hillary Levitz, Sara Leviton, Liz Cretekos, Ashley Maguire, Brittany Hayes, Erin Hoban, Leanna Colubriale, Kaitlin Roehrer, and Nicolette Lotrionte placed sixth in the finals with a time of 7:16.92. Bucknell won the race in a time of 6:53.40 followed by Trinity, Navy, Saint Joseph’s, and George Mason.

The Second Novice Eights team of Rachel Waylett, Laura Wertman, Chelsea McFadden, Virginia Hall, Tori Drach, Arielle Farrell, Laura Dodd, Elyse Palmer, and Emily Nassi placed second in its heat with a time of 7:17.68. Loyola won the heat in a time of 7:12.08.

The Varsity Eights team of Marra Green, Meredith Rubin, Darra Finnerty, Regine Adrien, Rachael Conway, Mary Grace Maggiano, Elizabeth Carey, Katelyn Huber, and Steph Lynch finished its heat in third place with a time of 6:59.28. Trinity won the heat in a time of 6:46.24 followed by Rutgers and Delaware.

The Novice Eights team of Christa Kurman, Kristine McGrath, Mary Scholz, Erica Morgan, Lauren Kolsky, Courtney Williams, Julie Ridgeway, Lauren Kanaskie, and Jamie Hedrick finished fourth in its heat with a time of 7:34.98. Bucknell won the race in 7:02.39 followed by Navy, Drexel, and Delaware.

The Varsity Fours team of Avery Griffin, Grace Capreol, Kristin Endres, Valerie Glace, and Sarah Baillie placed fourth in its heat with a clocking of 8:17.29. Navy won the heat in 7:48.94 followed by Lafayette, Fordham, and Delaware.
