NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware women’s rowing head coach Laura Slice has announced her team’s 2009-10 schedule that includes competition at 10 events, including four exhibition meets this coming fall.

The Blue Hens will be competing in their 12th season since becoming a varsity sport in 1998-99 and will be led by Slice for the seventh season. Delaware placed third at the Colonial Athletic Association championships this past spring, the first official CAA championship held for the sport.

Delaware will take part in four exhibition regattas during the fall season, hosting Saint Joseph’s and Temple in the opener Sept. 26 on the Christina River and following with the Navy Day Regatta Oct. 10 on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, the Princeton Chase on Oct. 25, and the Head of the Occoquan Regatta at Fairfax, Va. on Oct. 31.

The regular spring season will get underway on March 13 as the Blue Hens travel to take on Saint Joseph’s in a multi-team meet on the Schuylkill River.

The remainder of the spring season will include another trip to Philadelphia for the Murphy Cup March 27, competition at the Knecht Cup Apr. 10-11 at Camden, N.J., and the CAA championships April 24 at a site to be determined later.

The Blue Hens will close out the season in May by competing at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Championships at Camden, N.J. on May 1 and the season-ending 72nd annual Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River on May 7-8.
