Blue Hens Take Two
Top Five Finishes
OCCOQUAN, VA -- The University of
Delaware women's rowing team picked up two top five finishes
Sunday at the Mid-Atlantic Championships on the Occoquan
River.
Delaware's Novice Fours team of Kat
Ahern, Erin O'Leary, Erinn Batykefer, Janice Brown,
and Kate McCullough placed second overall with a time
of 7:29.0 while the Novice Eights team of Melissa
Shields, Andrea Placke, Liz Florin, Michelle Whalen, Danah
O'Connor, Janet Hoyler, Dana Lohr, Stef Lazorick, and
Dawnyel Boucek placed fourth overall with a time of
7:05.8.
The Novice Fours team placed second
behind Carnegie Mellon which won the race in a time of
7:21.5. Robert Morris placed third in the event with a time
of 7:31.2.
In the Novice Eights race, Delaware's B
team placed fourth overall. Bucknell won the race in a time
of 6:46.1 followed by George Mason (6:49.5), Loyola
(7:03.6), and Delaware (7:05.8).
The Blue Hens will compete in their
biggest meet of the season this weekend when Delaware takes
part in the Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River in
Philadelphia Friday and Saturday.
