Each Win But Blue Hen Women's Rowing
Finishes Second At CAA Championships/Kerr

PHILADELPHIA,
PA -- Three-time defending unofficial
Colonial Athletic Association champion
University of Delaware was dethroned as
Drexel won the Varsity Eights race on its
way to capturing the CAA title and Kerr
Cup Saturday on the Schuylkill River.
Delaware
earned 47 points to finish second in the
team standings, just three points behind
Drexel.
The UD
Second Varsity Fours team of Cami Off,
Laura Belfi, Lily Chavarriaga, Carly
Gonzalez, and Susan Carbine won its race
in 8:46.0, finishing ahead of Virginia
Commonwealth in 8:54.7. The Blue Hen
Novice Eights team of Callie Tegan, Ashley
Sparano, Stephanie Hendrixson, Kristen
Cannatelli, Meghan Doletzky, Salena Klass,
Justine Strausser, Lana Rivers, and Lauren
Taylor also won its event in 7:03.0, ahead
of William & Mary in 7:09.3, Drexel in
7:19.0, and Virginia Commonwealth in
7:35.8.
The
Delaware Varsity Fours team of Jill
Goldman, Maria Bellumori, Lynn Hamski,
Katie Broullire, and Lindsey Wood finished
second in its race in 8:30.1, behind
William & Mary in 8:12.0. The Blue
Hens Novice Fours team of Cami Off, Carly
Gonzalez, Lindsay Decktor, Emily Canniff,
and Lily Chavarriaga was also second in
its event in 8:47.9, finishing behind Old
Dominion in 8:39.0
Drexel
took the Second Varsity Eights in 7:35.0,
ahead of the Delaware team of Kenna
Plangemann, Liz Martin, Nikki Jackowsky,
Katie Broullire,
Cathy
Savarese, Jamie Schoenewald, Nicky
Bradley, Stephanie Miller, and Jenn Boutin
in 7:41.4 and George Mason in
7:52.5.
The
Dragons also won the Varsity Eights in
6:48.8, while the Blue Hen team of Alison
Harrington, Lyra Sawzin, Lane Kohl,
Maureen Gillen, Melanie Turner, Laura
Beaufort, Jess Kostick, Christina Stanley,
and Emily McElwain came in second in
6:57.8. George Mason placed third in
7:02.7, while William & Mary was
fourth in 7:07.2.
Delaware
returns to action on May 7-9 when the Blue
Hens compete in the ECAC Metro
Championships in Worchester,
MA.
