LEWISBURG, PA -- The University of Delaware Novice Fours team captured first place and the Blue Hens placed second in two other events in a quad meet hosted by Bucknell University Saturday afternoon.

Delaware’s Novice Fours team of coxswain Amanda Burton, Candace Quinn, Lisa Ferrara, Catherine Hansen, and Lisa Medina (at right) easily outdistanced runner-up Temple and highlighted the Blue Hens’ day. Delaware rowed to a time of 9:46.24, easily outracing Temple at 10:54.41.

The Blue Hens also placed second in the Varsity Eights race with a time of 8:35.70, second in the Second Varsity Eights race with a time of 8:15.15, fourth in the Varsity Fours race in 10:33.16, and fifth in the Novice Eights competition in 9:21.60.

Temple won the Varsity Eights grand final with a time of 8:10.44 to win over Delaware’s team of coxswain Kenna Plangemann, Melanie Turner, Lane Kohl, Elizabeth Carey, Laura Beaufort, Christina Stanley, Jess Kostick, Justine Strausser, and Cathy Savarese. Bucknell won the petite (consolation) finals ahead of George Mason. Delaware placed second in its heat with a time of 8:12.30 to advance to the finals.

Bucknell won the Second Varsity Eights race with a time of 8:13.74, less than two seconds better than Delaware’s team of coxswain Alison Harrington, Katie Broullire, Nikki Jackowsky, Jenn Boutin, Rachel Thomas, Lily Chavarriaga, Lynn Hamski, Kristen Cannatelli, and Lana Rivers in 8:15.15. Temple was third in 8:29.22.

Bucknell “A” won the Varsity Fours race in 9:32.82 to beat Bucknell “B”, George Mason, and Delaware. The Blue Hen team of coxswain Callie Tegan, Emily Canniff, Liz Clark, Kiersten Joesten, and Nicolette Lotrionte rowed to a time of 10:33.16.

Temple won the Novice Eight competition with a time of 8:55.44 to down second place George Mason “A”, third place Bucknell, fourth place George Mason “B”, and fifth place Delaware. Delaware’s team of coxswain Amanda Burton, Candace Quinn, Lisa Ferrara, Kiersten Joesten, Cami Off, Catherine Hansen, Lisa Medina, Liz Clark, and Nicolette Lotrionte rowed to a time of 9:21.60.
