BOSTON - The University of Delaware women's rowing team competed in an exhibition meet the Head of the Charles Regatta this past weekend.
Delaware's Varsity Eights team of Kenna Plangemann (coxswain), Elizabeth Carey, Laura Beaufort, Melanie Turner, Christina Stanley, Justine Strausser, Lisa Ferrara, Jenn Boutin, Nikki Jackowsky placed 42nd out of 46 teams with a time of 17:41.095.
The winning time was put in by the US National Team (15:36.733) while the Canadian National Team was runner-up in 15:54.637.
"The Championship varsity eights event at the Charles is a tough event," said Delaware head coach Laura Slice. "My varsity eights has worked very hard in just a few short weeks to make improvements and changes that allowed us to increase our speed from last year. This year our Varsity eights decreased our margin between our time and the first place time by over 4%."
