PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Delaware women’s rowing team posted a third place finish in the Novice Eights race and a sixth place showing in the Dad Vail Varsity Eights at the annual Navy Day Regatta Saturday on the Schuylkill River.

The regatta was the second exhibition of the fall season for the Blue Hens, who will host their annual Alumni Weekend this Saturday on the Christina River in Wilmington and close out the fall season at the Head of the Occoquan (Va.) Regatta Nov. 1.

Delaware took part in four races Saturday, posting one third place finish, a sixth place showing, an 11th place finish, and a 14th place finish.

The Delaware Novice Eights team of Sarah Fritz, Erica Morgan, Jaime Logan, Rachael Conway, Ashley Maguire, Kristen Endres, Allegra Smith, Erin Hoban, and Jamie Hedrick led the way for the Hens, placing third out of 20 teams with a time of 16:20.1. Pennsylvania won the race in a time of 16:00.7 while Navy was second in 16:16.2.

In the Dad Vail Eights race, Delaware’s team of Avery Griffin, Meredith Rubin, Darra Finnerty, Elizabeth Carey, Liz Cretekos, Regine Adrien, Katelyn Huber, Mary Grace Maggiano, and Steph Lynch placed sixth out of nine teams with a time of 16:28.90. Saint Joseph’s won the race in a time of 16:09.3.

In the College Eights race, Delaware’s contingent of Marra Green, Taima McCartney, Leanna Colubriale, Katie Gooding, Lisa Medina, Kaitlin Roehrer, Clare Wardwell, Laura Stiffler, and Nicolette Lotrionte placed 11th overall with a time of 17:55.90. Navy won the race with a clocking of 15:12.6.

In the College Fours competition, the Blue Hens placed 14th out of 20 teams with a time of 18:20.3. Georgetown won the race with a time of 16:50.3. Delaware’s team consisted of Amanda Burton, Sara Leviton, Brittany Hayes, Grace Capreol, and Sarah Baillie.
