University of Delaware Women Rowers Post Two Runner-Up Finishes at Head of the Occoquan Regatta

FAIRFAX, Va. -- The University of Delaware women’s rowing squad closed out the fall exhibition season Saturday as the Blue Hens posted two runner-up finishes at the Head of the Occoquan Regatta on the Occoquan River.

Blue Hen crews placed second in the Novice Fours and Novice Eights races and also finished 10th and 15th in the Varsity Eights race, 15th in the Varsity Fours race, and also seventh and 20th in the Novice Eights competition.

In the Novice Fours race, Delaware placed second out of 15 teams, registering a time of 20:17.77 and trailing only winner George Mason with a time of 19:40.13. West Virginia finished third with a time of 20:56.29. Delaware’s team included Sarah Fritz, Erica Morgan, Jaime Logan, Rachael Conway, and Grace Capreol.

In the Novice Eights race, Navy won with a time of 17:37.92 but Delaware’s A team of Hillary Levitz, Erica Morgan, Jaime Logan, Rachael Conway, Ashley Maguire, Kristen Endres, Allegra Smith, Erin Hoban, and Jamie Hedrick was second with a clocking of 18:02.43. The Delaware B team of Christa Kurman, Laura Wertman, Laura Dood, Grace Capreol, Julie Ridgeway, Lauren Kanaskie, Lauren Kolsky, Virginia Hall, and Chelsea McFadden was seventh in 19:11.58 and the Delaware C team of Katy Indelicarto, Shannon Munsell, Tori Drach, Jenny Kim, Jill Silver, Leila Sammander, Elyse Palmer, Emily Nassi, and Arielle Farrell finished 20th in 21:29.14.

In the Varsity Eights race, Delaware’s A team of Marra Green, Meredith Rubin, Darra Finnerty, Mary Grace Maggiano, Liz Cretekos, Regine Adrien, Katelyn Huber, Elizabeth Carey , and Steph Lynch placed 10th with a time of 18:17.59 while the Delaware B team of Avery Griffin, Sara Leviton, Leanna Colubriale, Kaitlin Roehrer, Lisa Medina, Katie Gooding, Clare Wardwell, Taima McCartney, and Nicolette Lotrionte was 15th in a time of 19:06.35. Navy bested the 23-team field with a winning time of 16:39.47.

In the Varsity Fours competition, the Blue Hens rowed to a time of 21:01.24 to place 15th out of 26 teams. George Washington captured the race with a winning time of 18:52.86. Delaware’s team included Amanda Burton, Valerie Glace, Brittany Hayes, Laura Stiffler, and Sarah Baillie
