NEW ORLEANS, LA -- The University of Delaware men’s and women’s cross country teams each returned to the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Regional polls announced this week.
The Blue Hen women, led by head coach Sue McGrath-Powell, returned from a two-week hiatus and was picked at No. 14 while Jim Fischer’s men’s team, unranked each of the last four weeks, also was at No. 14.
Both teams are coming off fourth place finishes at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships held Friday at Hofstra’s Bethpage State Park course in Farmingdale, NY. Sophomore Christina Antonopoulos led all Blue Hen runners with an eighth place finish. The Hens will be off this weekend before heading to the NCAA District 2 Championships at Lehigh in Bethlehem, PA Nov. 10.
Princeton held the top spot in the women’s Mid-Atlantic poll followed by West Virginia, Georgetown, Penn State, Villanova, Penn, La Salle, Navy, Bucknell, Maryland, Duquesne, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Delaware, and American.
In the men’s poll, Georgetown held the top spot for the seventh straight week and was followed by Princeton, Villanova, La Salle, Penn, Penn State, American, Navy, Duquesne, Maryland, Bucknell, Lehigh, Saint Joseph’s, Delaware, and Rutgers.
