NEWARK, Del. -- Both the University of Delaware men’s and women’s cross country teams are ranked in the Top 15 of this week’s U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Region polls.
The Delaware women are ranked No. 10 this week, down one spot from No. 9 last week, while the Blue Hen men earned a ranking for the first time this season at No. 13.
The Delaware women placed 16th at the Paul Short Invitational and 11th at the George Mason Invitational last week while the Blue Hen posted a 22nd place finish at the Paul Short Invitational and an eighth place showing at George Mason. Both teams are off this week but will return to action Oct. 18 when they host the Blue Hen Classic at White Clay Creek State Park.
Princeton was the top-ranked women’s team this week followed by West Virginia, Georgetown, Villanova, Penn State, Navy, Bucknell, Maryland, Penn, Delaware, Lehigh, Duquesne, Rutgers, LaSalle, and Loyola (Md.).
On the men’s side, Georgetown was the No. 1 ranked team followed by Villanova, Princeton, Duquesne, Penn State, LaSalle, Penn, Maryland, Navy, Lehigh, American, Saint Joseph’s, Delaware, Bucknell, and UMBC.
