NEW ORLEANS -- Both the University of Delaware men’s and women’s cross country teams remained in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Region rankings announced by the USTFCCCA.
The Blue Hen women moved up one spot from No. 15 in the pre-season poll to No. 14 this week while the Delaware men dropped a single spot to the No. 15 position.
Both teams, which are led by head coach Jim Fischer, were off last week but will continue action this Friday, Oct. 2 when they compete in the prestigious Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
Georgetown remained in the top spot for the second straight week on the men’s side while West Virginia kept the No. 1 ranking on the women’s side.
Georgetown was followed by Princeton, Villanova, Saint Joseph’s, Penn State, LaSalle, Duquesne, Pittsburgh, Lehigh, Maryland, Bucknell, American, Navy, and Delaware.
On the women’s side, West Virginia was followed by Villanova, Princeton, Georgetown, Penn State, Pennsylvania, LaSalle, Maryland, Navy, Duquesne, Bucknell, Lehigh, Towson, Delaware, and Loyola.
The Delaware men captured the Delaware Invitational team title in its last outing back on Sept. 14, the same day the Blue Hen women finished second at the Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park.
