Alexander Finishes
Fourth Overall as Blue Hens Place

cross country runners Pat Riley and Aimee
Alexander continued to lead the way for the Blue Hens as
Alexander placed fourth in the ECAC Women's Championships
and Riley was 11th at the IC4A Men's meet Saturday at
Fordham's Van Cortland State Park.
The meets were the final ones of the year
for both Blue Hen teams. The Delaware women placed 10th out
of 14 teams while the UD men placed 12th out of 19 teams.
Bucknell won the men's five-mile IC4A meet while Yale was
second, William & Mary placed third, Cornell was fourth,
and Penn State placed fifth. Manhattan's Matt Spring won the
individual title in a time of 25:04.60.
Colonial Athletic Association champion
James Madison captured the 5,000-meter women's ECAC meet
team title followed by Georgetown, Duke, Bucknell, and
Princeton. James Madison's Cynthia Dunham won the
individual title with a time of 17:50.70.
Alexander (Carmel/Stormville, NY), who
led the Blue Hens in all but one race this season, placed
fourth out of 106 runners on the women's side with a time of
18:09.40.

Marchetta (Milton, MA HS) was 54th (19:21.50), Karen
Reber (Pottsgrove/Pottstown, PA) was 56th (19:24.60),
Jenn Krisch (Great Valley/Malvern, PA) was 74th
(19:54.30), Ashley Olsen (Bishop Eustace/Mt. Laurel,
NJ) was 75th (19:54.90), Kate Klim
(Barnstable/Cummaquid, MA) was 84th (20:05.20), and
Krista Kugler (A.I. duPont/Hockessin, DE) was 106th
(27:39.70).
Riley (St. Mark's/Newark, DE), who led
the Blue Hens in every race this season, placed 11th out of
182 runners with a time of 25:32.90 in the IC4A meet.

(William Penn/Newark, DE) was 74th (26:22.70), Matt
Swierzbinski (Caesar Rodney/Wyoming, DE) was 104th
(26:51.50), Carl Kinney (Middletown/Townsend, DE) was
122nd (27:09.40), Mike Sadowsky (Concord/Wilmington,
DE) was 134th (27:29.70), Dave Finneran (Rutherford,
NJ HS) was 139th (27:35.90), and Pete Kelly (Elmira
Southside/Pine City, NY) was 166th (28:38.90).
