February 27-29, 1999 Forlini, Connell Lead UD Women's Track at ECAC's
BOSTON -- Junior Brandy Connell placed 15th in the 20-lb. weight throw and junior Ashley Forlini placed tied for 19th place in the pole vault this weekend at the ECAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. The meet was the final indoor meet of the season for the Blue Hens. The Delaware men will compete at the IC4A championships this weekend in Boston. Forlini (Exeter/Reading, PA), the first UD pole vaulter ever to qualify for the ECAC championships, leaped 9-6 1/4 inches to place tied for 19th in the pole vault. Rhode Island's Stephanie Maugham won the event with a height of 12-2. Connell (St. Mark's/Wilmington, DE) placed 15th out of 19 competitors in the weight throw with a toss of 49-6 1/4. East Carolina's Michelle Clayton won the event with a toss of 61-5 3/4.
