Alexander Lead Delaware Women at St. Valentine Invitational
Track Meet
BOSTON -- Carol Oliveri was the
University of Delaware's top finisher with a sixth place
finish in the pole vault to lead the Blue Hen women's indoor
track and field team at the St. Valentine Invitational
Saturday at the Boston University Armory.
Oliveri (St. Rose/Brick, NJ) leaped to a
height of 10-6 1/4 to place sixth overall out of 23
competitors. Delaware athletes posted 16 Top 20 finishes in
a meet that attracted teams from throughout the East
Coast.
Also for the Hens, Aimee Alexander
(Carmel/Stormville, NY) placed eighth in the 5,000 meters
(18:08.06) while Marta Pepe was 10th in the pole
vault (10 1/2).
Other Delaware top 20 performances
included Jennie Chiller (Sharon, MA HS) placing 12th
in the weight throw (45-4 1/2), Laura Dietrich
(Northeastern/York, PA) placing 12th in the triple jump
(33-10 1/4), Melissa Calvanico (Tottenville/Staten
Island, NY) placing 14th in the shot put (39-65 1/2),
Stephanie Kuehne (Dulaney/Phoenix, MD) placing 14th
in the triple jump (33-2 1/2) and 16th in the high jump (5
1/4), and Kate Schulhaus (Foxboro, MA HS) finishing
15th in the triple jump (32 1/4) and 17th in the long jump
(15-3 1/4).
Also for the Hens, Jen Lublanecki
(West Morris Central/Long Valley, NJ) was 16th in the 200
meters (25.94), Colleen Christopher
(Ursuline/Wilmington, DE) was 16th in the long jump (15-9
3/4), Rachel Schultz (Caesar Rodney/Dover, DE) was
18th in the 500 meters (1:24.50), Jennifer Krisch
(Great Valley/Malvern, PA) was 19th in the 1,000 meters
(3:15.08), Diethra Seymour (A.I. duPont/Wilmington,
DE) was 19th in the weight throw (40-2 1/4), and Megan
Wesolowski (Lenape/Mt. Laurel, NJ) was 20th in the long
jump (14-9 3/4).
The meet was the final tune-up for
Delaware before heading back to Boston for this Saturday's
America East Indoor Track and Field
championships.
