Chiller is Seventh
in Weight Throw for Blue Hens
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA -- University
of Delaware junior Jon DiNozzi captured the men's
pole vault competition with a height of 15-feet, 9 inches to
lead the Blue Hens at the National Indoor Track and Field
Open Friday and Saturday at Penn State University's Horace
Ashenfelter Indoor Track.
DiNozzi, a junior from Middletown, DE
(Fox Lane HS, NY), was the lone Blue Hen individual champion
in a meet that brought some of the top athletes in the East
together.
The top finisher for the University of
Delaware women was junior Jennie Chiller
(Sharon/Sharon, MA) who placed seventh in the 20 lb. weight
throw with a toss of 47-1 3/4. Penn State freshman Kate
Johnson won the event with a distance of 54-6
3/4.
Also for the Delaware men, senior
Butch Patrick (Newark/Newark, DE) was 11th in the
preliminaries of the 60 meters (7.02), 13th in the long jump
(22-1 1/2), and 21st in the preliminaries of the 200 meters
(22.66) and senior Nate Irvin (Sussex
Central/Millsboro, DE) was 23rd in the preliminaries of the
60 meters (7.13) and 30th in the preliminaries of the 200
meters (22.83).
Also for the Delaware women, senior
Aimee Alexander (Carmel/Stormville, NY) placed 16th in
the 3,000 meters (10:00.64) and freshman Kristen
Frustillo (Cardinal O'Hara/Newtown Square, PA) was 30th
in the preliminaries of the 60 meter dash (8.17) and 33rd in
the preliminaries of the 200 meters (26.65).
