NEW YORK -- The University of Delaware women’s indoor track and field squad won the 4 x 400 meter relay and posted four other Top 20 finishes at the Great Dane Invitational hosted by the University at Albany at the New York City Armory Friday night.
Delaware also competed at the John Covert Classic at Lehigh University’s Rauch Field House Friday night but results were not available. The second and final day of the event will be held on Saturday.
The Blue Hens recorded several impressive finishes in New York led by the 4 x 400 meter relay team of senior Cristine Marquez, freshman Nijah Dupiche, freshman Vicky Caruso, and junior Kristi Cox that won first place with a meet record and ECAC qualifying time of 3:45.89. The time was the second best in school history.
Also for the Hens, Marquez placed second in the 400 meters with an ECAC qualifying time of 55.68 and finished 11th in the 200 meters with an ECAC qualifying time of 25.09, Dupiche was 11th in the 400 meters (57.67), Caruso finished 14th in the 55 meters (7.32), and Cox placed 21st in the 400 meters (58.67).
