NEWARK, DE -- A total of 16 different University of Delaware players scored a point as the No. 17 ranked Blue Hens defeated Drexel 19-2 in an America East women's lacrosse game Thursday at Rullo Stadium. Toni Leidy led the way for Delaware with three goals while Amy Sullivan, Kate O'Connell, Robyn Hill, Kelly Swift, and Denise Guerra each scored twice. The Hens (4-2, 2-0 America East), who defeated the Dragons for the 14th time in 15 meetings, extended their America East winning streak to 17 straight games. Drexel (2-5, 1-4) got both goals from Julie Carney while Suzy Gula had a first half assist. Dragaon goalkeeper Michelle Geist posted 14 saves. Delaware opened the scoring on goals by Sullivan and O'Connell in the first two minutes, but Drexel answered with a goal by Carney with 26:58 left in the half. The Hens then reeled off the next nine goals to take an 11-1 halftime lead and scored the first four goals of the second half to go up 15-1 with 22:28 left. Carney broke the 13-0 run with an unassisted goal with 20:55 left to play for Drexel. Sarah Edwards and Sue Nickerson each dished out three assists while Megan Fortunato, last week's America East Player of the Week, scored once and had two assists for Delaware. Delaware returns to action Saturday when they travel to Nashville, TN to take on No. 14 Vanderbilt.
