NASHVILLE, TN -- The string of

to play to lift the previously winless Commodores to the 7-6
upset win over the Blue Hens at Vanderbilt Lacrosse
Stadium.
Kinsey Osberg and April Tellam each
scored two goals and dished out an assist as Vanderbilt
(1-6) won its first game of the season. The Blue Hens (3-4)
lost their third straight game, all in the final minutes,
despite three goals from Megan Fortunato and two more
from Ashley Moderacki. Goalkeeper Laurie
Tortorelli had 10 saves for the Blue Hens.
Delaware lost to then No. 13 ranked Penn
State 6-5 March 21 when the Nittany Lions scored the
game-winner with 4:10 left to play. Delaware then followed
with a 10-7 overtime loss to No. 7 ranked James Madison last
Saturday when JMU rallied from a 7-5 deficit with six
minutes remaining to send the game into overtime on a goal
with 2:23 left.
Vanderbilt jumped out to a 4-0 lead
before the Blue Hens got on the board on a goal by Moderacki
with 9:03 left in the first half. The Hens scored two more
goals before Vanderbilt's Tellam scored with 33 seconds left
to give the Commodores a 5-2 halftime cushion.
Tellam scored the first goal of the
second half to give Vanderbilt a 6-3 lead before Delaware
stormed back. Kate O'Connell and Fortunato scored
goals 29 seconds apart to cut the lead to 6-5 with 23:04
left and Fortunato tied the score at 6-6 on a goal with
17:41 remaining. No one would score again until Roguski's
game-winner.
The Blue Hens, a 2000 NCAA Tournament
participant, continue their two-game southern swing today
(Saturday) when they take on Notre Dame at 3 p.m. at
