Shuck Scores Six Goals But Hens Fall to Unbeaten Buckeyes 

Corinne Shuck's career-high six goals were not enough to lift the Hens over Ohio State

SOUTH BEND, IN -- The University of Delaware women's lacrosse squad suffered its second one-goal loss in a week as No. 20 ranked Ohio State jumped out to a four-goal halftime lead and held on for a 12-11 victory over the Blue Hens Monday at the University of Notre Dame.

The Blue Hens will continue their two-game midwestern swing when they take on host and No. 15 ranked Notre Dame (4-1) Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Tracey Bounds scored four goals and dished out three assists to lead the Buckeyes, who remained unbeaten on the season with a 6-0 record. Alexia Vogler added three goals and an assist while team scoring leader Megan Mirick (17 goals) had two goals and an assist and Regina Oliver scored once and assisted on two others.

Delaware, which has played three one-goal games this season, including a 12-11 loss to Towson last Wednesday, dropped its third straight game to fall to 2-4 overall.

Senior Corinne Shuck (Broadneck/Annapolis, MD) exploded for a career-high six goals for the Blue Hens but the Buckeyes held Delaware's leading scorer Ashley Moderacki (18 goals) to just one assist. Sophomore Michelle Campolettano (St. Anthony's/Massapequa Park, NY) added a career-high four goals and Nikki Kucharski scored once to pace the Blue Hens.

Ohio State jumped out to an 8-4 lead at halftime and then had to hold off the Hens in the second half for the win. Ohio State entered the game having defeated its six opponents by an average margin of 10.3 goals per game.

Delaware goalkeeper Laurie Tortorelli (Haverford/Havertown, PA) posted a season-high 14 saves for the Hens.
