Hens End Season on
Four-Game Losing Streak
UNIVERSITY PARK,
PA -- Kristin Burke scored four goals and Emily Chambers
and Colleen O'Hara each scored three as 12th ranked Penn
State downed the University of Delaware, 13-10, in
non-conference women's lacrosse action Saturday
afternoon.
Sophomore and second team
All-CAA member Erin Edell registered the second hat
trick of her career for the Blue Hens, who fell for the
fourth straight game to finish their season 7-9. Junior
Shannon Kron notched two goals and an assist for
Delaware while senior Nikki Kucharski scored twice in
the final game of her collegiate career.
Penn State built a 6-2
lead 20 minutes into the first half on two goals from both
Chambers and Burke before two goals by Edell cut the deficit
to 6-4. Burke closed the half with her third goal to give
the Nittany Lions (9-8) a 7-4 halftime lead.
Delaware scored four of
the first six goals of the second half to cut the deficit to
9-8 before PSU scored five of the final eight goals, led by
two from O'Hara.
Junior Libby Pforr
notched one goal and one assist for the Blue Hens and
freshman Megan Hager added two goals.
Lee Tortorelli made eight
saves for Penn State while UD freshman Patrice Hughes
stopped nine Nittany Lion shots. Sophomore Lauren Burtch
started in goal for Delaware, allowing four goals.
