Delaware 10, Temple 9 March8, 2003 Blue Hens Rally to Win First Game of the Season Libby Pforr (15, at right) scored two goals for the Blue Hens NEWARK, DE -- Junior Shannon Kron (Baltimore, MD) registered her first-career hat trick and fellow junior Libby Pforr (Lloyd Harbor, NY) netted her first two goals of the season as the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team handed Temple its first loss of the 2003 season Saturday afternoon in a 10-9 win at Rullo Stadium. With the game tied at 9-9 with under 10 minutes left in regulation, freshman Meagan Hager (Berwyn, PA) netted her second goal of the game, beating Temple goalkeeper Megan McLouth from close range, to propel the Blue Hens to victory. Trailing 7-4 early in the second half, the Blue Hens (1-1) tallied four-straight goals - two by Pforr, one by senior midfielder Nikki Kucharski (Englewood, CO), and another from junior Becky Zane (Glen Mills, PA) - to take an 8-7 lead. Patti Glavin scored four goals for the Owls, who had won their last two meetings against the Blue Hens. Delaware freshman goalkeeper Patrice Hughes (Springfield, PA) stopped eight Owls shots en route to earning her first collegiate win. Sophomore Lauren Burtch (Wilmington, DE), who also received playing time, made three saves for the Blue Hens. Delaware returns to action this Tuesday when it travel to Piscataway, NJ to take on the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers University.
