#8 James Madison 13, Delaware 7 April 9, 2004 Decker Scores Eight Goals, JMU Scores Seven Straight for CAA Win Game Boxscore NEWARK, DE - James Madison's Gail Decker scored eight goals and notched two assists as the eighth-ranked Dukes outscored the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team, 10-2, in the second half to pull away for a 13-7 victory in Colonial Athletic Association action Friday night at Rullo Stadium. Decker, a National Player of the Year contender and current CAA Co-Player of the Week, scored four of her eight goals during a second half Duke rally. The Dukes scored seven unanswered goals, beginning with Kelly Berger's score at 22:23, which tied the game at 6-6, and led by as much as 11-5 with 14:25 to go. Junior Erin Edell scored two goals in the Blue Hens' loss In the spurt, Decker became James Madison's all-time leading goal scorer, ending the contest with 166 career goals, and broke the Rullo Stadium record for goals in game. Decker led the Dukes with her 10 points while Kelly Berger notched two goals in the win. Junior Erin Edell (Glenelg, MD/Glenelg) and junior Becky Rausa (Fallston, MD/Forest Hill) led the way for the Blue Hens with two goals apiece. Freshman Jenny Diana (Burke, VA/Robinson) was held scoreless for the first time in her career as a Blue Hen. Before tonight's contest, Diana had scored at least two points in all of the Hens' 10 matches. Sophomore Megan Hager (Berwyn, PA/ Conestoga) ended Delaware second half scoring drought at 9:16 to cut the score to 11-6 but it wasnít enough as the Dukes found the back of the net on two more occasions en route to the 13-7 final. Decker opened the scoring in the first half for the Dukes at 24:27 but the Blue Hens responded with goals from Rausa and junior Diana Hall (Clifton, VA/Centreville) at 21:12 and 19:45 respectively to give Delaware a 2-1 lead. Decker responded with another goal just 38 seconds later to knot the score at 2-2 but Edell scored at 16:36 to put the Hens up one. Decker and Edell both found the back of the net again before the end of the first half as Delaware took a 4-3 lead into hafltime. Delaware drops to 3-8 (1-3 CAA) with its second straight loss while James Madison remains undefeated in league-play and improves to 8-3 (3-0 CAA) with third straight win. Sophomore Patrice Hughes (Springfield, PA/Springfield) made a career-high 14 saves for the Blue Hens. Livvy King and Amy Altig split time for the Dukes in goal. King stopped five would-be goals while Altig made four saves and notched the win.
