#13 Northwestern 9, Delaware 8 (2 ot) March 24, 2004 Blue Hens Fall to Wildcats in a Classic Game Boxscore NEWARK, DE -- Northwestern's Lindsey Munday scored three goals, including the game-winning goal at 2:09 remaining in the second overtime to lift the 13th ranked Wildcats over the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team, 9-8, in non-conference action Wednesday night at Rullo Stadium. With the score tied at 6-6 at the end of regulation, the Wildcats got on the board quickly in the first overtime as Sarah Albrecht scored at 2:10 to put Northwestern ahead by one. Delaware responded with two goals in the second overtime period by senior Michelle Campolettano at 2:31 and sophomore Kristin Cellucci at 1:23 to take a 8-7 lead but Northwestern's Kristen Kjellman closed out the second overtime period with score at 1:03 to force the first triple overtime game in Delaware women's lacrosse history. Sophomore Goalkeeper Patrice Hughes Delaware trailed the Wildcats 3-2 at the half but rallied off three unanswered goals to open the second half of play, giving the Blue Hens a 5-3 advantage with 23:32 to go in regulation. Munday scored two goals in the second half, including the game-tying goal with 2:32 remaining in regulation to send the contest to the first overtime period. Munday led the Wildcats with three goals and one assists while Kjellman also scored twice for Northwestern. Delaware (2-4) was led by Campolettano's three goals and one assist. Freshman Jenny Diana added two goals in the Hens' loss. Sophomore Patrice Hughes tied a season-high with 10 saves in over 66 minutes of stellar action in goal for the Blue Hens. The Blue Hens return to action on Sunday as they open Colonial Athletic Association play against the Towson Tigers at 1 p.m. in Towson, MD.
