CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- Three University of Delaware women’s lacrosse players have been selected to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region Teams. Senior Katie Muth (at right) was selected to the first team, while sophomore Debbie Sloan and freshman Nicole Flego were selected to the second team.

The three selections were the most since the Blue Hens had three players selected after the 2001 season.

Muth, a midfielder from Ellicott City, MD (Seton Keough), was the only Blue Hen player named to first team, which was selected by a committee made up of head coaches from the region. The IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Region includes all NCAA Division I teams in Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Muth, who also earned All-CAA second team honors, was second on the team with 50 points. She completed her stellar final season with a team-high 37 goals and 13 assists.

Sloan, who was also named to the All-CAA second team for the first time, was third on the team with 47 points. Sloan, a sophomore from Thornton, PA (West Chester East HS) tied for second on the team with 36 goals this year.

Flego becomes only the second freshman in school history to be named to the All-Region team, joining Jenny Diana who garnered second team honors in 2004. Flego also became the first player in school history to be named to the CAA first team and the All-Rookie team in the same season.

Flego (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) finished the season with 36 goals and was fourth in the CAA and first on the team with 22 assists. She also led the team and placed sixth in the CAA with 58 points.

Delaware, which finished the season 11-6 and fell in the CAA semifinals, posted the most wins by a Blue Hens squad since the 2000 season in which Delaware made the NCAA Tournament.
