RICHMOND, VA -- Delaware freshman midfielder Julianna Jeffers (at right) has been named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week after scoring five goals and adding an assist during the week of March 9.
Jeffers, a native of Springfield, PA who starred at Springfield High, has made an immediate impact in the Delaware midfield. On March 5 at Loyola (Md.), she scored her first career goal with 10:21 left in the second half and found the net again nine minutes later. She followed up that breakout game with a three-goal, one-assist effort on March 8 versus St. Bonaventure, when she also collected four ground balls and two draw controls.
Jeffers ranks fifth on the squad with seven points on the year and is tied for fourth with six goals.
Towson's Hillary Fratzke was honored as CAA Player of the Week after scoring seven goals and dishing out four assists in two Tiger victories.
Delaware (3-2, 0-0 CAA), which fell to No. 12 Notre Dame 16-8 on Thursday afternoon in South Bend, IN, continues its three-game road swing on Tuesday with a trip to Temple.
