TOWSON, MD -- Towson scored the first four goals of the game and never looked back on the way to a 15-10 victory over the University of Delaware in Colonial Athletic Association women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Hillary Fratzke, Meggie McNamara, and Ali Alati scored three goals apiece to pace a balanced attack for Towson (7-3, 1-0 CAA) in its league opener, while senior attack Casey McCrudden (at right) found the net five times for the Blue Hens (6-3, 0-1 CAA), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Towson took a 1-0 lead when Alati snuck a shot past UD goalie Jessica Cerveny after a nice feed from Britt Woodfield just 2:15 after the opening whistle. McNamara doubled the Tiger advantage at the 24:44 mark, and Fratzke continued the early onslaught with a rocket past Cerveny at 21:19.

McNamara won the ensuing draw control and immediately found Woodfield in open space. The junior midfielder wasted little time in extending the TU margin to four, as she scored just 10 seconds after Fratzke's goal to put the Tigers in command.

Freshman midfielder Brittany Davis finally got the Hens on the board on a free-position try with 19:46 remaining in the period. Sophomore midfielder Emily Schaknowski trimmed the deficit to two a minute later, but Towson answered with scores by Mary Hammond and Ali Lathroum to regain the momentum.

Down 7-4 at halftime, the Blue Hens once again closed to within two when McCrudden fired home her second goal of the day on an assist from Courtney Aburn. The Tigers roared back with three consecutive goals in a 98-second span to put the game out of reach, as UD never got any closer than four the rest of the way.

Schaknowski finished with two goals and an assist for the Blue Hens, who were out-shot 32-28 and lost 15 of 27 draw controls.

Fratzke, who leads the CAA with 46 points, notched two assists to go along with her hat trick. Jacie Kendall added two goals for the Tigers, who avenged last season's 16-15 loss in Newark.

Freshman midfielder Lexie Yakulis recorded her first career goal for Delaware with 17:37 left in the second half.

The Blue Hens continue their CAA slate on Friday, when they host Drexel at 7 p.m.
