DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. -- Jessica Cerveny and Erin Zimmerman of the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team have been selected to play in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/Under Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa.
Both First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association and CAA All-Tournament team selections, Zimmerman and Cerveny will play for the North squad coached by Boston University head coach Liz Robertshaw. They will take on the South team, coached by the University of Maryland's Cathy Reese on Sat., June 13 at 2 p.m.
The game will be part of a tripleheader that also includes the Division III game at noon and the Division II game at 1 p.m.
Cerveny (top right), a four-year starter in net for head coach Kim Ciarrocca, capped a terrific career at Delaware this past Spring. She started all 18 games and played every minute of all but one game when she was relieved for just 14:34. She played 1075:26 minutes in goal for the Hens this season, which ranks third all-time in school history. She allowed 150 goals and made 157 saves.
A native of Islip, N.Y. (Islip HS), Cerveny ranked in the top-five in the conference in three categories. She was No. 1 in goals against average at 8.54 per game, No. 2 in save percentage (.494) and fifth in groundballs per game with 2.75.
For her career, Cerveny finished fourth on the all-time career goalie saves list with 552 saves. She also finished second in most goalie minutes played in a career.
Zimmerman (bottom right), a Malvern, Pa. native and converted true defender turned midfielder for her senior season, did a little bit of everything for the Hens this season. She was particularly impressive on defense, causing a team-high 22 turnovers. Offensively, she scored seven points on four goals and three assists. A sharp-shooter, she took just five shots to score those four goals for an .800 shooting percentage. She also ranked second on the team with 42 groundballs and won 11 draw controls on the season.
Cerveny and Zimmerman will face off against three CAA players on the South squad: James Madison’s Jamie Dardine and Towson’s Julie Ondrako and Meggie McNamara.
