NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware women’s lacrosse head coach Kim Ciarrocca has announced the signing of seven current high school standouts who will attend UD next fall and compete for the Blue Hens.

This year’s recruiting class includes Angela Biciocchi from Potomac, Md. (Winston Churchill High School), Meghan McNeil from Bel Air, Md. (Liberty HS), Kelsey Kaminsky from South Lyon, Mich. (South Lyons HS), Brittany Griel from Fairfax, Va. (Chantilly HS), Kate Helmig from Chatham, N.J. (Chatham HS), Morgan Leonard from Baltimore, Md. (Liberty HS), and Lindsay Dockman from Lutherville, Md. (Notre Dame Prep).

“This year’s class consists of all midfielders and defensive players,” said Ciarrocca, who has posted a record of 35-32 in four seasons at the helm at UD and has led the Blue Hens to three Colonial Athletic Association semifinal appearances. “I am very excited to coach them because they all are very talented athletes. They all have exceptional speed and quickness and will have a strong impact on the team.”

Biciocchi, a midfielder, will be a fourth-year starter this spring at Winston Churchill High School. She led the team in scoring as a junior in 2008 when she tallied 58 goals and 25 assists and earned spots on the Coaches all-county first team, All-Montgomery County first team, and All-Gazette first team. She also was a member of the 2008 National Tournament team. She has also played four years as a point guard and is a two-year captain in basketball and has lettered two seasons in soccer.

McNeil, a midfielder, will also be a fourth year varsity performer this spring at Liberty High School. She was the team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player in 2008 when she also earned first team all-county honors. She has also played soccer for four seasons and led Liberty to the state title in 2005, the regional championship in 2007, and county titles in 2005 and 2006. She also earned all-county honors for soccer and won the MPSSAA Scholar-Athlete Award.

Kaminsky, a midfielder, is the first recruit from the state of Michigan in Delaware women’s lacrosse history. She is a fourth-year member of the varsity team at South Lyon High School this spring and has led the team in scoring each her previous three seasons. She led the state in goal scoring in 2008 when she earned All-State honors as well as being named the Livingston County Female Athlete of the Year and the area Athlete of the Year. She led the team to the regional title and a berth in the state title game. She also earned All-State and all-area honors as a sophomore in 2007.

Griel, a midfielder, earned honorable mention All-American honors in 2008 at Chantilly High School. She also earned first team all-district and all-region honors, second team all-metro honors, and was the Concorde District Player of the Year, Northern Region Midfielder of the Year, and Fairfax Times Player of the Year. She also played one season of basketball.

Helmig, a defender, led Chatham High School to the Morris County title and the New Jersey state championship as a junior in 2008.

Dockman, a midfielder, served as a team captain as a junior last spring when she helped lead Notre Dame Prep to a record of 13-7 and a No. 15 national ranking.

Leonard, a midfielder and teammate of McNeil’s at Liberty High School, will be a third year varsity performer this spring. She earned second team all-conference and second team all-county honors as a sophomore in 2007 and first team all-conference and second team all-county laurels as a junior last spring.
