NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse coaching staff will host a four-week Delaware Rec Program this September and October for local youths looking to learn the game, develop fundamentals, enhance their skills, and have fun.
New Blue Hen head coach Kateri Linville, assistant coach Kristin Hopson, and current members of the UD squad will serve as instructors for the program, which is set for September 12, 19, 26, and Oct. 3. The events will be held on the new turf fields located behind Delaware Stadium on South College Avenue in Newark.
The Delaware Lacrosse Rec Program is recommended and open for all girls in grades 5-8 and will be held on four successive Sundays beginning on Sept. 12. Registration will begin at 2:15 p.m. with clinics running from 3-5 p.m. each week. Teaching topics will including Cradle & Groundballs (Sept. 12), Catching, Throwing & Shooting (Sept. 19), Skills on the Move (Sept. 26), and Defense, Games & All-Star Competition (Oct. 3).
All participants must complete an application and medical form and there is a one-time registration fee of $80 per player for all four sessions or $30 per session. Checks should made payable to the University of Delaware.
Players are requested to bring goggles, mouth guard, stick, turf cleats, water bottle, goalie equipment, and rain gear.
