PHILADELPHIA -- University of Delaware athletes posted four top 10 finishes in the pole vault and Yianna Antonopoulos (at right) had the Blue Hens’ best finish of the day with a second place showing in the 5,000 meters at the University of Pennsylvania Outdoor Track and Field Invitational Saturday at Franklin Field.

Blue Hen athletes recorded 11 top 10 finishes and 14 more top 20 finishes during the cold and windy day

Antonopoulos had the Blue Hen women’s top finish as she placed second in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:23.93. The top finish for the UD men was recorded by Dave DiVirgilio, who was seventh in the pole vault with a leap of 13-9 1/4.

Also for the Delaware women, Laura Chirico was third in the pole vault with a leap of 10-11 3/4, Julia Somers was third in the 5,000 meters (18:24.24), Annie Kowtoniuk was fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:31.72), Julianne Twomey was sixth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (13:04.55), Christina Antonopoulos was sixth in the 1,500 meters (4:45.86) and 18th in the 800 meters (2:23.83), and Megan McGrath was eighth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (13:35.84).

Also for the Delaware men, Matt Arbaugh was eighth in the pole vault (13-9 1/4), Mike McCleary was ninth in the 200 meters (24.07) and 15th in the 400 meters (56.68), Matt Guida was ninth in the pole vault (13-3 1/2), and Bryan Doherty was 11th in the 100 meters (12.81) and 14th in the 200 meters (26.60).
