PRINCETON, NJ -- Senior Asha Qua (at right) earned All-East honors with a fourth place finish in the women’s long jump and senior Conrad Rapp led the University of Delaware men with a 13th place finish in the pole vault to lead the Blue Hen men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams at the IC4A and ECAC Championships Saturday at Princeton University’s Weaver Stadium.

A total of 10 Blue Hen student-athletes competed during the day. The Blue Hens will close out action at the meet Sunday when John Viotto takes part in the men’s shot put at 1 p.m.

Quant added to an outstanding season as she placed fourth overall in the long jump with a school-record leap of 19-feet, 11 1/2-inches, breaking her own mark of 19-8 set last season. She earned All-East honors for the first time in her career. Her leap qualified her for the NCAA East Regionals to be held May 30-31 at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL.

The Delaware men had three athletes competing on the day with Rapp leading the way with a vault of 15-feet, 9-inches, matching his career best set earlier season and finishing just four inches shy of the school record.

Also for the Delaware men, Colonial Athletic Association hammer throw champion, sophomore Connor Whitesel, placed 26th in the event with a toss of 156-feet, 10-inches, and senior Will Jurkowski raced to a time of 1:52.85 to place 27th in the 800 meters. Jurkowski’s time was less than a second off his career-best.

The Blue Hen women also posted two other top 10 finishes as junior Kelli McDonald placed ninth in the pole vault with a leap of 12-feet, 3 1/2-inches and the 4 x 100 meter relay team of Quant, sophomore Cristine Marquez, freshman Kayla Hennessy, and freshman Kristi Cox ran to a 10th place time of 46.90. McDonald placed 14th in the event a year ago.

Also for the UD women, Marquez was 12th in the 400 meters in a time of 55.28, Hennessy was 15th in the 100 meter hurdles (14.33) and 26th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.11), freshman Cassie White placed 16th in the 10,000 meters (37:42.32), junior Laura Chirico was 18th in the pole vault (11-5 3/4), and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Marquez, Quant, Hennessy, and Cox finished 27th overall with a clocking of 3:54.20.

Hennessy’s 100 meter hurdles time was just .08 seconds off her own school and freshman record set earlier this season.
