Bennett Places 11th in Pole Vault; 4 x 400 Meter Relay Sets School Record

NEW HAVEN, CT -- Casey Bennett was the top University of Delaware finisher as she placed 11th in the pole vault at the Eastern College Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend at Yale University.

The Delaware women's 4 x 400 meter relay also highlighted the weekend's action by placing 12th with a school record time while the Delaware men were led by 19th place finishes by Patrick Riley in the 10,000 meters (30:59.18) Friday evening and by Mike Yost in the discus (171-5) Saturday afternoon at the IC4A Championships also at Yale.

Neither Delaware team earned points in the team standings as the UD women tied for 48th place and the men finished in 55th place. The meet was the final action of the year for the UD men while the women will continue action with Bennett and Mandy Stille competing at the NCAA East Regionals May 28-29 at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.

Bennett, Delaware's record-holder in the pole vault, was the top Blue Hen finisher as she placed 11th in the pole vault with a jump of 11-9 3/4 Saturday. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Brittany Wright, Rachel Schultz, Mandy Stille, and Tyechia Smith placed 12th overall and set a school record with a time of 3:50.16 Saturday, breaking the mark set earlier this season.

Also for the Delaware women, the 4 x 100 meter relay team of Wright, Stille, Daniella Price, and Smith placed 21st with a time of 47.88 Saturday, Wright was 22nd in the 100 meters with a time of 12.24 Saturday, and Rachel Young was 22nd in the discus (127-3) on Saturday.

Also for the Delaware men, Mike Sadowsky placed 27th in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:22.38 Friday night.
