NEWARK, DE -- Cate
Harrison and Kelly Walker netted second half
goals to lead the University of Delaware women's soccer team
to a 2-0 America East victory over Drexel Friday afternoon
at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.
The Blue Hens, who outshot
Drexel 17-3 and held a commanding 19-0 advantage in corner
kicks, improved to 4-6-1 (2-1 America East) while the
Dragons dropped to 3-7-1 (1-3).
After a scoreless first half,
the Hens got on the board when Harrison (Ramsey/Ramsey, NJ)
took a feed from Tracy Cantwell and scored 13 minutes
into the second half for the only goal the Hens would
need.
Delaware added some insurance
with 1:01 left to play when Kelly Walker
(Dickinson/Wilmingto, DE) scored her 16th career goal and
first of the 1999 season off an assist from freshman
Maria Pollaro.
Blue Hen goalkeeper Rachel
Bersin (Bridgewater-Raritan/Bridgewater, NJ) needed just
one save to post her second shutout of the season. Drexel's
Joy Banares posted five saves.
Delaware returns to action
Oct. 15 at the University of Maine.
