HARTFORD, CT - The
University of Delaware women's soccer team was shutout by
the University of Hartford, 3-0, Friday.
Delaware (7-8-1, 5-3 America
East) and Hartford (15-4-2, 7-0 America East) played to a
scoreless tie in the first half.
In the second half, Hartford's
Sandra Doreleijers managed to be too much for the Hens. At
49:00, Doreleijers scored off a cross from Katharina
Lindner. Then, Doreleijers scored off a pass from Signe
Andersen at 55:19. She ended her scoring tear at 62:13,
when she shot a Danielle Korbmacher pass over the goalkeeper
Rachel Bersin's head.
For Hartford, it has secured
the top seed for the conference tournament, which begins
Wednesday. Earlier today, the Hartford men's soccer team
also clinched its respective conference championship for the
regular season.
Delaware will be the first
round match-up for Hartford. The game will be Wednesday at
3:30 p.m. in Hartford. The other semifinal will be played
at Nickerson Field in Boston, as Boston University will host
Hofstra.
Delaware will return to action
one more time before it returns to Hartford. The Hens will
battle Vermont in Burlington on Sunday.
