Delaware vs. Purdue
Sept. 12, 1999
Purdue 4, Delaware 1
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN -- A
three-goal outburst over the last 21 minutes was the
difference as Purdue handed Delaware a 4-1 loss in the
second round of the Boilermaker Challenge Cup.
Rebecca Broeing gave Purdue a
1-0 halftime lead with her goal at 26:45.
Delaware freshman Brittany
Campbell tied the score with her first collegiate goal,
an unassited tally 17:43 into the second half.
However, the Boilermakers
countered with goals by Jennie Schurr, Tara McCarthy and
Jessica Baumhoff to take command. Schurr's unassisted goal
with just over 20 minutes remaining proved to be the
game-winer. McCarthy's and Baumhoff's tallies in the closing
minutes put the game out of Delaware's reach.
Purdue outshot Delaware, 9-5,
for the game.
Delaware will play host to
Marist Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Delaware mini-stadium in the
Blue Hens' home opener.
