DURHAM, NH -- Erin
Kelly and Mandy Merritt each scored and Rachel
Bersin recorded her second shutout as Delaware defeated
New Hampshire, 2-0, Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Blue Hens
are now unbeaten in their last four games (3-0-1) and moved
to 6-6-1 overall and 4-1-0 in America East action. Delaware
is in a tie for second place with Hofstra and Boston
University, all at 4-1-0 (12 points). Hartford leads the
league at 6-0-0 (18 points) after defeating Northeastern
Sunday.
Kelly got the Blue Hens on the
board at 12:44 when she fired a shot into the top right
corner of the net from 30 yards out. It was the first
collegiate goal for the senior from Charlotte,
NC.
Merritt put the game away with
her team-leading sixth goal of the season with 11:54
remaining when she scored off of a rebound.
Bersin recorded five saves in
shuting out the Wildcats (6-7-1, 2-4-1). The freshman from
Bridgewater, NJ has not allowed a goal in her last 305:26 of
action, dating back to Oct. 3 in a 1-1 tie against Virginia
Commonwealth.
Delaware outshot New
Hampshire, 11-6, for the game.
Delaware will host Boston
University in a key America East battle Friday at 3:30 p.m.
at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
