The University of Delaware women's soccer team (3-7-1,2-1) defeated Hofstra (6-3-2, 1-2) 2-1 on Thurdsay at University Field. The win was the Blue Hens second win in the last three games, both coming in AmericaEast play. Delaware struck in the middle of the first half when freshman Stacey Lukens (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) put in a header off a Nicole Spadfino's (OldBridge, N.J./Old Bridge) direct kick to make the score 1-0.The Blue Hens scored their second goal on a breakaway when Tracy Cantwell(Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) put a pass through to a wide open Kelly Walker(Wilmington, Del./Dickinson) who converted the opportunity to make the score 2-0. Hofstra did not score until Allyson Aillano put in a shot from the top of thebox with ten seconds left in the game to make the score 2-1. Delaware outshot Hofstra 12-10, 7-3 in the first half.
