The University of Delaware women's soccer team
(3-8-1) absorbed the most lopsided defeat in the
programs history as the Hens fell to Penn (8-2-1)
9-0 on Tuesday in Philadelphia Pa. The Quakers used
eight second half goals to hand Delaware the loss.
Penn struck in the middle of the first half when
Aidan Viggiano scored off an assist from Anne
Callaghan to make the score 1-0. The score stayed
1-0 going into halftime. The second half saw two
goals from Jill Callaghan and Angela Konstantaras,
as well as goals from Anne Callaghan, Kellianne
Tolland, Kelli Stevens and Sabrina Fenton to up the
score to 9-0. Overall the the Quakers had nine
players score points in the game. Penn outshot
Delaware 16-11 for the game. Delaware, whose most
lopsided loss was previously by five goals saw that
mark topped by an astounding four goals. The
previous five goal losses were suffered at the
hands of Hartford, Virginia and Penn State, who
were all ranked at the time they played the Blue
Hens.
