PHILADELPHIA -- First-half goals by Heather Connelly, Brittany Campbell and Lara Wean sparked Delaware to a 3-0 win over Drexel in America East women's soccer action at Drexel Field Tuesday afternoon. The win snapped Delaware's four-game losing skid, during which the Hens had been outscored, 11-2, by the opposition. The win puts Delaware back into the race for an America East Tournament bid. Delaware is 9-5-1 overall and 2-3-0 in America East play (six points in the standings). Hofstra and Northeastern are tied for the fourth playoff spot with nine points and identical 3-2-0 conference records. With the loss, Drexel fell to 4-9-0 overall and 0-6-0 in conference play. The Dragons were eliminated from conference tournament contention with the loss. Connelly, a freshman from Lititz, PA making her first collegiate start, got the scoring started off a feed from Megan McFadden just 4:51 into the game. It was her second goal of the season. Delaware extended the lead to 2-0 when Campbell scored off a pass from Fran Termini. The goal at 22:01 of the first half was Campbell's team-leading ninth of the season and gives her 22 points this season, ninth on the UD single-season points list. Wean, a sophomore from Wallingford, PA, made it a 3-0 game when she scored her first goal as a Blue Hen. The sophomore transfer from LaSalle netted a corner feed from Ginna Lewing with 14:09 left in the first half. The Delaware defense took over from there as Rachel Bersin and Andrea Lunn combined on the shutout. Bersin recorded six saves over the first 70:17, while Lunn recorded four saves the rest of the way.
