Brittany Campbell scored her team-high eighth goal of the season

HEMPSTEAD, NY -- Christa Eidenweil scored two goals and Hofstra scored three times in a 10-minute span in the first half on its way to a 5-2 America East women's soccer victory over the University of Delaware Friday afternoon.

Delaware, which lost its fourth straight game, fell to 8-5-1 (1-3) despite sophomore Brittany Campbell (Notre Dame/Newtown, PA) who scored one goal and assisted on another. Hofstra (7-4-2, 3-2), unbeaten in its last five games, also received a goal and assist from both Bridget Pistone and Jerilyn Marinan. The five goals was the most allowed by Delaware since a 9-0 loss to Pennsylvania on Oct. 13, 1998.

Eidenweil started the scoring for the Pride just 7:41 into the game when she scored on a breakaway, beating Delaware goalkeeper Erin Johnson (three saves).

Delaware tied the game just two minutes later when freshman Francesca Termini (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) scored her fourth goal of the season off a feed from Campbell.

But it was all Hofstra after that as the Pride scored three goals in a span of 10 minutes and 10 seconds late in the first half. Marinan scored at the 27:12 mark while Marisa Pistone scored eight minutes later at 35:43 and Bridget Renta followed with a goal just 99 seconds later to give HU a 4-1 halftime lead.

Eidenweil scored her second goal with 9:59 left to play before Campbell scored her team-high eight goal of the season just five minutes later.

Delaware will travel to America East foe Drexel on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
