Rachel
Bersin stopped six
shots in the tie
|
NEWARK, DE -- Both
teams had their chances Friday, however Delaware and Kent
State played to a scoreless tie in women's soccer action at
Delaware Field.
Sophomore Rachel Bersin
recorded her second straight shutout of the season. Bersin
has not allowed a goal in her last 219 minutes, eight
seconds of action dating back to last year. She recorded six
saves in Friday's effort, which was her fifth career
shutout.
The Golden Flashes (2-0-1) got
a shared shutout performance from Lindsey Mitchell and
Melissa Glyptis. Mitchell recorded two saves in the first
half, before Glyptis came on for the final 75 minutes and
recorded eight saves.
Delaware (1-0-1) dominated
play for most of the first half, holding Kent State without
a shot until the closing minute of the half, but had nothing
to show for it. The Golden Flashes applied more pressure to
open the second half and controlled play early before the
teams battled evenly the rest of the way.
Delaware is back in action
Tuesday afternoon when it hosts LaSalle at 4:30 p.m. Kent
State travels to Virginia Tech for a Sunday 1 p.m.
match.
