PHILADELPHIA --
Freshman Fran Termini (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside)
scored a goal and added an assist as the University of
Delaware women's soccer team bounced back from its first
loss of the year to defeat St. Joseph's University, 3-1,
Wednesday night in Philadelphia.
Brittany Campbell
(Newtown, PA/Notre Dame HS) scored off an assist from
Termini 23 minutes into the match to give the Blue Hens
(7-1-1) a 1-0 edge at halftime. The goal was the
team-leading seventh of the season for Campbell.
Delaware put the game away
early in the second hafl, scoring two goals in less than a
three minute span. Megan McFadden scored off a feed
from Ginette Buffone to make it 2-0, and Termini
added an insurance goal from off a pass from Sara Wilson
moments later. Kim Dwyer scored for the Hawks (1-4) with 35
minutes remaining, but Delaware held on for the
win.
Freshman Erin Johnson
(Davidsonville, MD/South River), making her first collegiate
start for the injured Rachel Bersin, recorded four saves in
the victory.
Delaware will open conference
play Sunday when the Hens host Vermont at 1 p.m. at Delaware
Field.
