NEWARK, DE -- Sophomore
Brittany Campbell (Newtown, PA/Notre Dame HS) scored
a natural hat trick as the University of Delaware women's
soccer team remained unbeaten by defeating Temple, 5-1, in
Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon.
With the game tied at one,
Campbell scored the first of her three goals with just under
nine minutes remaining in the first half. Campbell added
goals with 38 minutes and 30 minutes left in the match to
put the game away. All three goals were
unassisted.
With the victory, the Blue
Hens improve to 5-0-1 on the season, the best start in the
program's 11-year history. The 1994 team went 5-0 to open
the year. Temple fell to 3-2 on the season.
After a Temple goal by Brenda
Gore just 2:14 into the match, Delaware regrouped. Freshman
Fran Termini scored on a breakaway 11 minutes
later. After Campbell's hat trick, freshman Heather
Connelly scored her first career collegiate goal with
14 minutes remaining.
Delaware goalkeeper Rachel
Bersin allowed just one goal to collect the win. Bersin has
allowed just two goals in six matches this
season.

its first road match of the year, will look to remain
unbeaten when the Blue Hens travel to the East Carolina
Tournament this weekend. Delaware will face UNC Wilmington
Friday at 1 p.m. and East Carolina Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in
