NEWARK, DE -- Freshman
Fran Termini (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) scored two
goals, including the game-winner with 4:09 remaining in the
match, to give the University of Delaware women's soccer
team a 2-1 comeback win Sunday afternoon at Delaware
Field.
Delaware (11-5-1, 4-3 America
East) trailed early after giving up a goal just 4:07 into
the match, but the Blue Hen defense would not allow another
goal and gave up just three more shots.
The Blue Hens dominated for
most of the last 75 minutes, and tied the match when Termini
scored off a feed from Brittany Campbell with just
2:10 left in the first half.
Delaware outshot New Hampshire
(4-11-1, 1-5-1), 11-1, in the second half, but could not
push anything by Wildcats goalkeeper Kristen Ouellette until
Termini took a pass from Maria Pollaro and beat
Ouellette far side with just over four minutes remaining.
The win kept the Hens in the hunt for the fourth and final
spot in the America East Tournament.
Ana Tobon scored the goal for
New Hampshire.
The match was the last home
contest of the season for Delaware, which will finish its
season next weekend in Boston. The Hens will face Boston
University Friday night in a key America East
battle.
