Bersin stops five
in shutout effort

into a tie for No. 2 in saves all-time at UD with

NEWARK, DE -- Christine
Wrightson and Brittany Campbell scored goals as the
University of Delaware's women's soccer team defeated Mount
St. Mary's, 2-0, at the Mini-Stadium on Wednesday night.
After being shutout in the
first half for the fourth straight game, the Blue Hen
offense got on the board mid-way through the second half.
Wrightson scored her third goal of the season after a Trisha
Breault shot bounced off the Mountaineer keeper to take the
1-0 lead.
The Hens added an insurance
goal with 11 minutes to play when Brittany Campbell beat a
drawn out goalie for her seventh goal of the year. Campbell
also assisted on the Wrightson goal.
Blue Hen keeper Rachel Bersin
stopped five shots in recording the shutout, her second of
the season.
UD recorded a season-high 27
shots.
Naomi Campbell recorded six
saves in goal for Mount St. Mary's (1-13).
Wednesday night was the Blue
Hens' final home game of the season. Delaware (8-6-1) heads
north for a pair of America East battles this weekend with
big playoff implications. The seventh-place Hens travel to
fifth-place Maine on Friday and third-place New Hampshire on
Sunday. The top six teams qualify for America East
Championship, which begins November 7.
