4-3 Halftime Deficit to Down Blue Hens

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The
University of Pennsylvania handed the University of Delaware
women's soccer team its first loss of the season Sunday in a
6-4 shootout at Rhodes Field.
Freshman Rachelle Synder
scored four goals for Pennsylvania which improved to 2 -0 on
the season. Snyder's four goals were the most ever by a
player vesus Delaware. The Quakers overcame a 4-3 halftime
deficit to improve their record to 2-0. Delaware fell to
2-1 on the season.
After falling behind 3-1
halfway through the first half, Hen junior Brittany
Campbell's second goal of the season started a Delaware
scoring run. Junior Stacey Lukens (Chalfont, PA
/Central Bucks West) continued the offensive surge with two
first half goals to give the Blue Hens the halftime
lead.
The Blue Hens were shutout in
the second half as Pennsylvania scored three goals, two by
Synder, to clinch the victory.
Sophomore Fran Termini,
of Ocenside, NY (Oceanside), also contributed to the
offensive cause with a goal and an assist for
Delaware.
Delaware's four goals is the
teams' highest offensive total since October 20, 2000 in a
4-0 victory against Maine.
The women's soccer team will
travel out west to play its next two games at the Weber
State Tournament in Ogden, Utah starting Thursday. The Hens
will open against Utah State.
